Welcome back to another great 4H and FFA Fair year! The committee members are hard at work planning the various activities and events for the 2010 – 2011 Fair year. Please announce the following information at your monthly club/chapter meetings to the exhibitors and their parents. Also, remind your members to access the website for updated information which is posted as it becomes available. If you have questions or need more information, please contact us.

OCTOBER 12 – GCF&R MARKET TURKEY ORDER DEADLINE. All exhibitors planning to show market turkeys at the 2010 Fair MUST have their order form and money turned in to the Fair Office by 5 pm on this date. BRING YOUR ORDER IN EARLY TO AVOID MISSING THE DEADLINE!!!
OCTOBER 16 – WADE’S FUNDS FOR LITTLE ONES – fund-raiser for children with cancer will be held in the Livestock Pavilion. Kids activities, food, auction, fun and more. Please visit their website www.wadesfunds.com for more information.
OCTOBER 23 – GCF&R STEER VALIDATION & TAG-IN – from 8 am to 11 am at the fairgrounds. All steers planning to be shown at the 2011 Fair MUST be presented on this date during the specified times. County Steers must be tagged prior to validation & tag-in (please refer to the rules). Please contact Claudia Tibaldo at 409-925-7107 if you have a county steer which needs to be tagged.
OCTOBER 26 – MAJOR SHOW LAMB & GOAT VALIDATION – 5 pm to 7 pm in the Livestock Pavilion on the fairgrounds at Jack Brooks Park. If you have any questions, please contact Phoenix Rogers at 281-534-3413 press 2 then ext. 5.
OCTOBER 30 – COMMERCIAL HEIFER & BREEDING BEEF VALIDATION & TAG-IN – 8:00 am to 12:00 noon at the fairgrounds. All Commercial Heifers planning to be shown at the 2011 Fair MUST be presented on this date during the specified times. A completed Breeder’s Certificate should be brought with the exhibitor. All Breeding Beef planning to be shown at the 2011 Fair should do the following. Registered Animals: Original registration papers and one clear copy MUST be presented on this date during the specified times for all heifers, cows and bulls. Non-Registered or papers pending heifers, cows and bulls MUST be presented on this date during the specified times. A completed Breeder’s Certificate should be brought with the exhibitor. Breeder’s Certificates are available at the Fair Office and MUST be completed PRIOR to tag-in. These forms are a 3-part NCR form and cannot be faxed.*******************************************************************************************

- REMINDER: SCRAMBLE RECIPIENTS – DO NOT FORGET TO TURN IN YOUR PROOF OF PURCHASE FORM ALONG WITH A COPY OF THE RECEIPT OR BILL OF SALE IN ORDER TO RECEIVE YOUR MONEY. ALSO, DO NOT FORGET TO TURN IN YOUR MONTHLY REPORTS TO THE FAIR OFFICE BY THE 10TH OF THE MONTH FOR THE PREVIOUS MONTH’S ACTIVITIES. DO NOT FORGET TO BRING YOUR STAMPED ENVELOPE ADRESSED TO THE SPONSOR SO WE CAN MAIL THEIR COPY OF THE REPORT TO THEM.

- NOTICE: Construction on the parking lot between the west fence of the fairgrounds and the concrete park road is scheduled to begin in September, 2010 with a projected completion date in December, 2010. During this time, access to the youth building and Fair Office will be from Hwy 6 through Gate #4 with entrance into the Youth Building through the kitchen door located on the south side of the building. Access for tag-ins will be from Hwy 6 on a newly constructed road along the east fence to Gate #8 which is located at the east end of the livestock pavilion near the rv parking area used during the fair.
